I can't say I recommend flying overnight to an unfamiliar city, then figuring out how to ride the metro system without speaking a word of French, asking at the corner news stand for directions to our hotel and checking in and meeting 23 new best friends without any kind of break, but........it sure makes for a great ice breaker!
That first evening is something of a blur. We met our fellow tour members and Rolinka, our guide. We walked through the neighborhood around our hotel surrounded by history and art and people and sights. We took a private bus tour of Paris at night and watched the 'City of Light' come to light. We had a delicious dinner with 25 new friends.
As we ended that day standing in the dark watching the Eiffel Tower come alight, Mike and I looked at each other and grinned. We're here! In Paris! And it's already amazing!
